The quietest data is data never collected.

What the current preview collects

The current site does not offer accounts, email signup, payments, public submissions, networked shared lights, or personalized AI generation. It does not intentionally set advertising or analytics cookies.

Our hosting provider, Vercel, may process ordinary technical request information—such as an IP address, browser information, requested page, timing, and security signals—to deliver and protect the site. That processing is governed by Vercel's terms and privacy practices.

What we do not want

Please do not send Still Awake medical records, diagnoses, passwords, financial information, precise location, or another person's private information. The current preview has no place to submit personal writing.

Local interactions

Choosing a story, using the breathing ritual, generating its optional ambient hush, and operating the player happen in your browser. Still Awake does not create an account, server-side listening history, or advertising profile.

When a finished recording is available, the player may save your position in your browser so you can resume it. The public preview does not currently post or share a light after a story.

You can remove these local records at any time by clearing this site's browser storage.

Future features

Before analytics, email, networked shared lights, accounts, payments, private notes, or personal stories are enabled, this policy will be updated to explain the exact data, purpose, provider, retention period, deletion choices, and legal basis involved.

Our intended rules are data minimization, no sale of personal information, no advertising profiles, no emotional free text in analytics, and no association between newsletter identity and private nighttime choices.

If The Night Letter opens, it will collect an email address only after explicit consent. It will not receive Night Signal answers, listening history, shared-light activity, or crisis-resource use.

Private shared-light testing

A disabled private-preview feature is being prepared for invited testing. It is not active on the public site. If enabled for a tester, releasing a light sends only a six-value story world, one prewritten quality, two random identifiers, and a Cloudflare Turnstile verification token. There is no message, name, account, email address, or location field.

Still Awake uses Cloudflare Turnstile to prevent automated releases and an isolated Supabase project to hold the light. The application stores a one-way hash of a random browser-night token for rate limiting, not the token itself. The light and that rate-limit record expire after twenty-four hours. Infrastructure providers may still process ordinary technical request and security information under their own policies.

The feature fails closed when verification or storage is unavailable. Public activation, analytics, email linkage, live-presence tracking, and personal writing are not authorized by this private test.

External resources

Links to crisis, support, or other external services take you to independent websites with their own privacy practices. Still Awake does not receive the content of calls, texts, or chats made through those services.

Changes and contact

This preview policy will change as the product becomes real. A dedicated privacy contact and request process will be published before Still Awake collects email addresses, user submissions, account data, or payments.
